Immersive events have really taken off in the last decade. Building on events like Renaissance fairs, L.A.R.P.s, and other themed festivals, Wasteland Weekend and now Neotropolis (along with several others inspired by them) are costumes-mandatory festivals with fully themed areas where no-one looks out of place.  You can choose to be in character or just be yourself, but either way - you're in it!

Bridger Farlander has been attending Wasteland Weekend (Yearly in September) for almost a decade, but is not able to attend Neotropolis (yearly in April) due to work constraints, but that doesn't stop him from getting in on the immersion.  He's created Network 42 - a cyber-punk inspired news network that's broadcasting from "back on Earth" in middle Tennessee.  Find out how it works and how you can get involved.

If you've seen "The Last of Us" or pretty much any post-apocalyptic movie or TV show, you may be wondering how they're keeping those war rigs fueled up.  Some of them have refineries making new gas or re-refining the old stuff, but in "The Last of Us" Joel is simply using the 20 year old stale gas to power up his truck, which he says is pretty much water, so they won't get much milage out of it.

But, there's a better way to get around in the aftermath of a global cataclysm, and thet's with an old mechanical diesel and that black gold, not from the gas tank, but from in the engine itself: motor oil.

Having gone to the Great Gathering at Wasteland City, and working out a deal with the Horde, Doc and Digits continue thier quest to track down a regulator to control the touchstone device.  They have some help with them for this mission though, a mechanic called Wut Brakes.

Introducing Legends of Wasteland City, a post-apocalyptic anthology series, following the lore surrounding the lost city that appears from the ashes of a dead world once a year.

Our first story comes from Skofield's Drifters as they embark on a mission to find a device that can harness the power of Touchstone, an old world military generator of sorts, and hopefully create a better world decades after the fall.

In this first epsiode, we meet Captain Digits as she tries to make sense of some recent "expenses" and Doc Skofield who's eccentric ventures often lead the Drifters to the edge of trouble.

It's been almost 30 years since the epic "Water World" came out in 1995.  At the time it was the biggest budgeted blockbuster of all time, struggled through some bad press and rumors of being a flop, and continues on as one of the most iconic post-apocalypse films ever made.  There's even a Water World Stunt Show that's still playing daily at Universal Studios theme parks.  Last week, some announcements came from across the internets that Universal is finally giving us more of the story in the form of a streaming series.  It'll take place 20 years in the future and follow some familiar characters, but that's about all we know so far.

I'm a huge PodCast fan, and I recently started listening to a new story-based pod called "After the Apocalypse", written by Chris Russell and read by Robert Weinheimer.  By the end of the first episode, I was hooked.  So today I'm going to share that first episode with you and have a discussion with Chris and get an inside look at the inspiration for the series and what you can expect from the full first season.

There's a permanent post-apocalypse village hidden in the desert of Arizona where for the better part of a decade, Lawless has been putting on one of the countries larger post-apo festivals.  The location is home to 4 annual fests including one based on Fallout and another celebrating on Steven King's "The Gunslinger" series.

Rev'Rend Lawless joins me to talk about the festivals and the beautiful wasted city know as Uranium Springs.

When "Waterworld" came out in 1995, it featured a ship famous for creating one of the world's worst oil spills in history, the Exxon Valdeez.  They used a scale model for the shoot, which ended up in a scrapyard in the Mojave desert.  A group of fans managed to buy the model for $1 and recreated it a an art piece and performance stage for the post-apocalypse festival, Wasteland Weekend.  My guest Paul Miller tells us about the model's 2nd life...and 2nd death.
