Wizened Sage Ian returns to the podcast to guest host much like Master Higgins returns to Adventure Island! Things are a little different in the second Adventure Island on the SNES, which is appropriately named Super Adventure Island II. This game is a little bit of a departure from the series (we’ll get into that in this episode), and it’s very similar to another classic retro game (we’ll get into that too). Come dock your raft for a little bit and listen.

Well, it has "been a week". With absolutely insane work schedules, Mothers Day events, graduations, and much much more, we were not able to get together this week to record something new new, but we didn't want to skip a week. So...we're opening The Patreon Vault to bring you an excellent episode that we recorded with one Ross Rachel Green from Across the Pond (you know, from the SNES quizzes on the show). We recorded this bonus episode back when we were doing bounties, and Ross put a bounty on a game that we hadn't really heard of previously: Mazin Saga Mutant Fighter for the Sega Genesis, a game that tries to mash up a beat 'em up with a fighting game. Important Facts About This Episode: 1. We originally recorded this back in October 2020. 2. We talk about giant feet a lot. 3. We would be without an episode today if it were not for our lovely Patreon donors. We appreciate the support and we thank you very much.

Lan Parties. Tamagotchis. Game Boys. That "S" thing we used to all draw. AOL. Ecto Cooler. All these things symbolize a childhood in the 90s but none of them nearly as much as Radical Rex! He's a real cool Radical Rex! Is this a very cool hidden gem on the SNES or is it a oversized and slow but very pretty platformer? COME FIND OUT (unless you go as restingtwitch_face and you MIGHT know. YOU MIGHT.) So come hear us talk about Percy Jackson, Tyler's Percy Jackson game, how to make the best tacos al pastor, the best Taco Bell food, how addicting potato oles are, and what we've been playing. Come check it out!

We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story is the game of the week buuuuuuut have you heard of it? It has quite the backstory that is far more interesting than the game but we absolutely go over both. So come on down and join us for some rare real movie talk with an appropriate amount of game talk.

What is a cyborg? Is it a robot? Are they like androids? All we know is THEY AIN’T LADIES, courtesy of The Combatribes, this week’s SNES game from The Randomizer. We bring back Casey of Piggy Palace fame to talk about his emotional week…and this game. Is The Combatribes a hidden gem? What is Casey’s racy snapchat? What kind of dress-up are we going to be playing? Have a listen and find out!

Well, here is our 2nd part of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. Spoilers, only one person on the podcast enjoyed it so we discussed it and went off the rails for some good old fashioned tangents. It was just the perfect way to spend time with #moremiller Shawn Miller and, for the first time on a main feed episode, Casey of Quincy of Piggy Palace fame! Please, come sit awhile and listen.

After so many references, so many mini discussions, and so much hype—we now bring you the goods and discuss one of our favorite new games, Hades! We needed to bring a strong show for such a strong game so we brought back Coco of CocoConfession and Cuphead fame to join us in our deep dive. Our love for this game is palpable so we stray from our standard formula for this episode and just have a solid discussion amongst friends about a game we love. Come hang out and we hope you like it!

For well over a year, we saw the cries of those dozens who listen to this podcast. “#moremiller!”, they cried! Well, he is our foremost Final Fantasy II/IV-ologist, so here he is for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. The After Years is a pretty lengthy game, so we are bringing back the ol’ two-part TADPOG. We each played a different version of the game (Wii, PSP, and Steam), so we all have a different take on it. Come hang out!

Tyler and Dave have played RPGs, football games, soccer games, baseball games, platformers, and puzzlers…but we know what everyone has really been waiting for: some sweet sweet bass fishing content. We are joined by the person we know who craves bass the most, Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins, to help discuss Bass Masters Classic and Bass Masters Classic: Pro Edition for the SNES! We talk about these games, our child hood bedrooms, our children’s bedrooms, and how we should tackle the rest of the Randomizer’s gifts. Enjoy!

Dave sings hymns to The Randomzier this week as it gave him one of his favorite childhood games, Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues. How thick are his nostalgia glasses? What will Tyler think of this game having never heard of it? I'm sure you know. Come on over, there is a southern dramatic reading and a quiz!

Did you love the basketball episode last week? Do you just live for TADPOG Sports? Well, you're likely totally alone. So, one person, we bring you a hockey game, courtesy of the Randomizer—Hit the Ice! The most NBA Jamesest of SNES hockey games...but is that a good thing? You can probably guess. Come hang out with us chatting about bedtime schedules, drinking soda, a little Hades, and a little Outer Worlds.

Barkley: Shut Up and Jam! (sadly not Gaiden or Gaiden II) was the game thrown at us by the Randomizer this week. So, of course, we talk a little about Hades and some other pretty good games we have played. There is PLENTY of Barkley chat, Shaq chat, general 90s basketball references, and a deep exploration of rules concerning what happens if you can defeat Sir Charles Barkley in a game of basketball. Come check out our best attempt at sports chat yet.

What do game do we want? HADES! When do we want it? NOW! What did we end up playing? RUN SABER! How was it? …surprising?
This week the Randomizer threw up a total mystery in Run Saber. We may have talked off mic about Hades for an hour before we started but we had a pretty good deep dive into Run Saber, it’s not at all what we expected. So join us as we talk a little Hades, a lot Run Saber and a pretty solid dramatic reading of the crazy story behind this game.

The Randomizer tried to throw us X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse which we have already done an episode on, so we countered with a game we were actually interested in: X-Men 2: Clone Wars for the Sega Genesis. IT’S OUR 8th ANNIVERSARY! So we are joined by Brandon of Axelay fame, and his girlfriend Cheryl of Brandon fame, to celebrate. This was a planned thing and not by total coincidence. So gather around and listen to traveling tales, stories of the past, a great package, some X-Men talk, and much more!

Are you the type of person who likes customizing a sweet car in Gran Turismo? Do you also like battling robots? Do you strongly prefer retro games? Then MAYBE you will be into the games we talk about this week, the SNES MechWarrior Games – MechWarrior and MechWarrior 3050. Not only do we talk about these games but we also discuss getting microchipped by Bill Gates, and how easy it is to ruin a dining room table.

Were you a middle aged adult in 1995 that was a fan of the SNES and WWII? Then MAYBE you know about Carrier Aces, the game vomited up at us by The Randomizer. Come listen to us talk about this game, try some very excellent beef jerky, take a quiz, and do a deep dive in the mythos of Tyler’s high school’s hang out, “Behind Hardee’s”. So grab a Six Dollar Burger and a pack of cheap cigarettes and give us a listen!

Race Drivin’. Yes, that is the title of this SNES game. The pinnacle of creativity – RACE DRIVIN’! Oh boy, is this game everything we thought it would be based on the name alone. We do actually have some friends that are familiar with it so we bring on Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins and a special letter appearance by Pinball Archmage Chris Edler! Come hear us talk about vasectomies, rogue-likes, Hades, better threats to get your child to behave than Santa Claus, and we do the deepest dive possible into this terrible terrible game. Is it the worst SNES game? Join us and see what you think.

So there are really only two kinds of kids in the world. Those whole like Animaniacs and those who don’t like Animaniacs. Are you with us or against us? Well, we’re against the Randomizer this week by forging our own path and talking about Animaniacs for the SNES. We just had to bring on our foremost Animaniologist in Wizened Sage Ian Chander! We talk Animaniacs the show, Animaniacs the game, Phasmophobia, Plucky Duck and more! Come sit awhile and listen.

Hey! It's racing! But not on cars or carts but dirt bikes! This week the Randomizer gives us Dirt Trax FX. Ever heard of Stunt Race FX? This is sort of like it but not horrible in every way. Tyler and Dave have a deep discussion of Freaky Eaters, Dave promises to finish Super Metroid, he just barely loses out on War of the Gems, and we talk racing on dirt bikes. We feel good about this one, come check it out!

This episode concludes the Final Fight series on the SNES! We take the power back from the Randomizer and do Final Fight 3 and Final Fight Guy to bring a beloved series to a close. I might say this show is 40% tangents, 50% Final Fight 3, 9% Quizzes, and a whopping 1% Final Fight Guy because that is literally all it deserves. We open an AMAZING package, go over a game that really surprised us, and a go over a game that did not. We think Alex Pena will give this episode a heart on Facebook so come check it out!

Okay, clearly we are talking about Bill Walsh College Football. It’s a sports game. It’s a football game. Dave will be sorta into it. Tyler will not be into it. BUT WE BRING ON LORD DENNIS ROBISON WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS ABOUT FOOTBALL AND THIS GAME! We talk about the names of football players, Tony, Tony’s dad, and plenty of other tangents (with some real talk about this game).

“Do you like Street Fighter?” The Randomizer asked. “Of course.” we replied. “Super Mario Kart?” “Yes”. The Randomizer laughed and gave us Street Racer, a game that tried to be both and ended up being neither. Join us for tales of Halloween, googling stuff we want to remember, the best episode of Mary Tyler Moore, friending Hoarders, and love for Fraggle Rock. Enjoy!

Rocko's Modern Life! YEAH, SON! One of the best Nicktoons ever! I bet you jump around and run from the Big Heads. No? Do you get into crazy plans with Heffer? No...you..move things around so your dog can walk forward to a special fire hydrant...oh. So it's one big escort mission? Um. Sounds swell. BYE!

Do you like Tetris? Of course. Do you like the massive amounts of Tetris adjacent puzzle games? No? What if it is endorsed by Alexey Pajitnov? Maybe? Yeah, that’s how we feel. So this week the Randomizer has us play and discuss the snakely Tetris adjacent puzzle game, WildSnake. We also talk theme parks, rides, sign museums, take a quiz and really get in there deep with some snakes. Enjoy!

Gadzooks! Of course, the Randomizer chose a Super Scope Game this week – Bazooka Blitzkrieg! It’s…apparently a game where you are a ninja with a Super Scope blowing up robots. So there is that. Tyler and Dave talk about it. They also bring up our little mistaken kerfuffle last week. We take a pretty solid quiz from Ross Rachel Green, So come here us chat about hitting deer, similarly named media, and some about this Super Scope game, to be fair, does offer something you can’t get elsewhere on the SNES.

Did you know about California Games II? That it existed? That it was an SNES game? We didn’t but the Randomizer did. As we do, we recorded a TADPOG episode over just this game – and the amount of time we talk about it is probably longer than it would take you to play it! So come hear us talk about all things California, dreams, kids, and all sorts of other things. We are also pretty sure we killed Farmville with this episode.

Football Fury! Yet another sports game brought to you by the Randomizer. Not just sports but football, you know, that thing Tyler and Dave know nothing about. The game is about what you’d expect based on the title and game art – so we brought on Jon and Ian of TADPOG I.T. fame! We do address just about everything we can on the game but also have plenty of fun tangents and real talk about pop tarts, a very specific deodorant, and Americanized fast food Mexican desserts. Sit awhile and listen.

Well, luck of the Randomizer not be with us - Winter Olympics: Lillehammer '94 was the draw for this week. Have you heard of this game? Have you seen this game in the wild? Are you familiar with Lillehammer outside of the Netflix show? Nope, not for us either. So we talk Olympics. We talk Cartoon Olympics. We talk, most importantly, about the vast catalog of Ernest movies and shows. So sit awhile and listen.

Nobunaga’s Ambition is…well…ambitious. And it certainly isn’t about revenge despite how many times Tyler tries to say it is. This week the Randomizer dealt TADPOG a card that made them grumble but turned out to be a surprise. So come listen to some chill LoFi game chat with plenty of odd tangents as we talk about this war strategy “dad” game.

Jim Power: The Lost Dimension in 3-D has arrived! I know it’s been a long time coming and everyone has been on the edge of their seat to hear about this game…hey, it sucks. There, now that is out of the way come enjoy us talk about the Genesis, Night Trap, a little Borderlands 3, a touch of Rogue Legacy, and a quiz about the SNES Adventure games. Come hear us talk and huge amount of trash about this game and all the tangents.

Okay, we will be honest. Jim Power on the SNES is pretty bad. We WILL get to it but Phantasmagoria had a bounty on it and Dave had a great time streaming it, SO HERE IT IS. Tyler and Dave talk about books, gaming, and a very British slang quiz with very Americanized British accents and go on in depth about how good Cockney Naruto would be. We do a deep dive into the FMV wonder of it’s time that is Phantasmagoria.

The Randomizer ran out of MP last week since time after time after time it chose games we had already played — so we went rogue and decided to talk about some Super Scope games that randomly checked out a few months ago – Battle Clash and Metal Combat: Falcon’s Revenge. Let’s cut to the chase, these games are fantastic. So please join us while we talk games, take a quiz, persuade Melissa to briefly join us, and get very very hot.

In 2020, do you know how to get Tyler and Dave together to beat a game for the show? You have a dark god of chance choose for them to play a Super Scope game. This week, courtesy of the Randomizer, we talk about Yoshi’s Safari for the SNES. BUT NOT JUST YOSHI’S SAFARI. We also talk lush toys, try some Pringles, and discuss different kinds of spiders and how they play into fetishes.

Have you ever heard of a game and just from the title could picture EXACTLY what it would be like? No big surprises. No big disappointments. 100% exactly what you expected. That is our experience playing the entire Jeopardy series of games for the SNES. WE ARE BACK IN THE STUDIO THOUGH, so just give us a chance – we talk bathroom accidents, cam girls, getting older, a little UO, a little Murk Borg, and a little Jeopardy. We promise it’s worth your time.

With a title like World Heroes, this game has to be good! Right? And when we say World Heroes you know what kind of game it is! No? Good, we didn’t either. So this week, courtesy of the Randomizer, we play the Street Fight clone “World Heroes”. Maybe the only game where Rasputin and a Nazi Robot are “heroes”. Also, we had to bring on our premier fightologist, Wizened Sage Ian to help cover the game. If you need to hear about building a deck AND the light touch in quantum mechanics then this is the episode for you.

WARNING! Let’s get this out right away – this is our first completely remote episode due to COVID-19. There may be hiccups, there may be issues but we did our best because no pandemic can stop this mediocre content from reaching tens of ears! We talk NBA Hangtime and just to round it out we bring back Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins and first time guest host Usurper Grimm! We talk…pest extermination? NBA Jam, NBA Jam Tournament Edition and Midway vs. Acclaim . If you don’t like the remote feel of it, we totally understand if all you do is download it several hundred times.

Legend. With a name like that, it has to be good, right? Or at least similar to the a plethora of other games that would also fit that sort of name? Yes, the second one. That’s exactly how it is. So the Randomizer dealt Tyler and Dave the side scrolling beat ’em up Legend. We give you a Jack update, how Melissa helped Tyler conquer something that he very much wanted conquered, Dave tells some sweet new Ultima Online stories. So please come check out a pretty okay review of Legend for the Super Nintendo.

TADPOG DOES SPORTS! TADPOG DOES HOCKEY! Well, we try. It’s evident we aren’t sportmen and hockey is even further out of our depths but, courtesy of the Randomizer, we talk on Brett Hull Hockey! (and Brett Hull Hockey 95). Of course we talk about bathroom woes, Billy Mitchell and his hot sauce, and some good ’90s television call backs. We know our track record with sports here but come check it out!

Rex Ronan: Experimental Surgeon! Doesn’t that sound awesome?! What could it be about? Did you guess it was an educational spoof of the movie Fantastic Voyage that centers around the dangers of smoking? WOW, VERY GOOD GUESS! So please listen to Tyler and Dave discuss the finer points of the game but also other educational games, Inner Space, Muppet Babies, Star Wars and Whitney Cummings. Enjoy!

Not since Gradius has there been so much debate on how to properly pronounce the name of a video game here on TADPOG. So RAIDEN TRAD. Is it Rye-den Trad? Ray-den Trad? Who knows? (Probably Dave) So please come on a journey with us where we talk about this shooter with plenty of discussion on Slush Puppies, Icee, Jim Varney, Patty Duke and a little Top Gun. Enjoy!

Pretty good hand we got dealt by the Randomizer this week with Knights of the Round. It even scooped us up Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins and J Jonah Jetplane Jonathan Wilson (though being on the other side of the world precluded his attendance). We talk hacked reddit accounts, eating in bed, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, and a little about a talking mongoose – along with a decent dive in Knights of the Round. Enjoy!

Okay, hear us out. Yes, this is TADPOG. Yes, this is a World League Soccer. Yes, we are not sport ballers. Give us a chance! We think this is a pretty funny episode (as long as you aren’t actually looking for quality soccer content). We talk Saved by the Bell, getting old, Harvey Keitel, and some pretty good redneck portmanteaus.

Well, we have arrived. The Randomizer has given us the tropiest trope of games with the lowest hanging fruit. Spanky's Quest for the SNES. It has a monkey. His name is Spanky. Go ahead. We also make the jokes but there are other jokes! And stories! and hot sauces! So please enjoy our...episode over a monkey named Spanky.

American Football. The Big Game. Grid Iron. Pig Skin. Touchdowns. These are all things TADPOG knows nothing about yet still we soldier on through the chaos that is The Randomizer. So to even things out we bring out the BIGGEST FOOTBALL BRAIN EVER – LAWD MULANEY DENNIS ROBISON. We talk all sorts of stuff and take some pretty pretty good quizzes. Enjoy!

We thought it was a taunt by the Randomizer at first, but it turns out there is an SNES game based on a movie by the same name “No Escape”. Well, apparently this movie was quite the flop but it was not without its fans. One of those fans is our beloved Sandwich Pope Phil, so we had to bring him on. We recount the movie, and the game but we really get into a deep discussion of Wild Hogs. Enjoy!

Tyler and Dave loved Nicktoons growing up. Doug, Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life — and one more that the Randomizer had to ruin for us, Ren & Stimpy. So the Randomizer dealt us Ren & Stimpy: Fire Dogs for the SNES. But we decided to finish off the whole series and throw in Time Warp, Veediots, and Buckroo$ just to torture ourselves. We hope you enjoy our pain but we also do a deep dive into the good and bad history of Ren & Stimpy (along with it’s creator, John K.) There is plenty of nostalgia to soak in, along with the cringe of how awful John K is.

Tyler and Dave love fighting games. Especially Dave. So the Randomizer went full Monkey’s Paw with giving us Power Moves, a clone of a clone of a clone of Street Fighter II. But don’t worry – we also have some hot takes on Jared from Subway and clear up out stance on the edgiest of issues.

Want to know what strange little game as a very interesting backstory? Want to hear isolation stories? Want to hear some guys take a quiz? WELL COME HEAR US TALK ABOUT MICRO MACHINES! And talk about work, children, child hood stories, and all sorts of things. Check it out!

"Pour the silver!" Dave shouted at Tyler. Tyler quickly poured the molten silver into the pentagram mold while chanting the opera scene from Final Fantasy VI backward. "Light our candles at my signal." Tyler said, he and Dave, nodding to each other. "Now." Tyler flatly said, as he and Dave lit their replica of the candles Rita Repulsa used to take away the Green Ranger's powers. "It is finished, The Randomizer is sealed...for now." Dave said with an exhausted smile. NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SUPER SCOPE! We were given a great gift by Usurper Grimm with a boxed Super Scope. So we have to talk about the Super Scope and it's packed-in game Super Scope 6. But we do try a hot sauce, talk about port-a-potty problems and delve into some childhood memories. Enjoy!

The Randomizer mumbled something at us. “What? Speak, beast.” Dave commanded. “urosmif” the Randomizer grumbled lazily. “TELL US THE GAME!” Tyler shouted. The Randomizer grinned, “Aerosmith.” Tyler and Dave knew that was no game. “REVOLUTION X!” The Randomizer sang in its best Steven Tyler impression. That’s right! Remember that arcade game? They ported it to SNES or at least they tried. But hey, SODA JERKS returns! We talk Super Scope and make some goofs! Check it out!

We here at TADPOG love a good SNES JRPG. Huge fans. So when the Randomizer belched forth an RPG, we were excited. And then we played said RPG, Tecmo Secret of the Stars. We couldn't tackle a game like this without Captain Gun Nerd Jon Turley. So we have some Corona virus chat, give an update on life, drink many drinks, and touch ever so slightly on this game. Enjoy!

“FOR THIS, YOU SHALL PAY!!!” The Randomizer bellowed as we turned our back on it. We crawled out of the dark cave we were trapped in only to be saved by THE CAPED PODCASTERS! That’s right, crossover time! This week we anger the Randomizer by choosing our own crossover episode the the Caped Podcasters with Batman Forever. Is it a bad game and a bad movie? Listen and see! (Yes, it is.)

“Spit out your choice, foul beast.” Dave demanded of the Randomizer. “Sport.” The darkness whispered back. “Foreman for Real.” is said stoicly. “Boxing? HA, that sounds great.” Tyler replied enthusiastically. The darkness dryly chuckled in response. SO WE PLAYED THE SNES BOXING SEQUEL FOREMAN FOR REAL, STARRING GEORGE FOREMAN! Guess what? Garbage so hot is burned our hands. But we do drink and take plenty of tangents, come check it out!

Hi everyone! Do you like Street Fighter? Me too! What about sculptures? ME TOO! How about the 90s? YES! Do you know what you get when you smash together those elements in the vaguest way possible? CLAYFIGHTER! Do you remember loving it? Come with us and take off those nostalgia glasses and give it another go!

HEY! LISTEN! Well, please listen. This episode is a little different that the others you’ve gotten used to because we aren't just talking about one game—we're talking about a bunch of competition cartridges. The Randomizer chose Super Star Fox Weekend Challenge for us so we are lumping in the Donkey Kong Country Competition Cartridge, 1990 Nintendo World Championship, Nintendo Campus Challenge 1991, Nintendo Campus Challenge 1992, Powerfest ’94, Blockbuster World Championships, and Blockbuster Game Championship II. Do you like historical gaming goofs? We think you’ll like this one so give it a listen, please.

Street Hockey ’95. WOOOOOF. Let’s not beat around the bush. The Randomizer did us dirty with — up until this point of the show — the worst SNES video game that we have ever played. So we bring some prime trash talk. We also talk about Coolio, Sexy Ned Flanders, and get into some deep MTV Lore. Please, enjoy our pain.

"What do you love, David?" the Randomizer cooed. "I love Pac-Man." Dave replied defiantly. "Oh, do you? Then you must be very thirsty of a sequel. HERE! PAC-MAN 2: THE NEW ADVENTURES! AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"
Did you know there was a sequel? Did you know it's nothing like the Pac-Man games you know and love? Come with us as we recount our confusing slog as you play a slingshot god who flings his will at an ever mood-shifting Pan-Man. Don't worry, we talk about the Grateful Dead, Phish, Shameless, take a quiz and make the BEST PHONE CALL.

Oh man, finally! We are everyone's favorite 1993 time travel based law enforcement show starring a handsome male lead who also has plenty of movies under his belt - TIME COP! What? No? What the hell is Time Trax? THE SAME THING BUT WORSE? AND THEY MADE A GAME ABOUT IT? HOW IS IT? Listen and see! We try to be funny to compensate and Terrified Michelle calls in with the most divisive question since "Wiping: Sitting or Standing?"

“You may have a single boon. What do you wish?” bellowed the Randomizer. “Ryan.” Tyler said, “I want my brother back.” The Randomizer narrowed it’s eyes and creaked a wry smile. “SO BE IT!”, the Randomizer exclaimed as it faded from view, leaving a single SNES cartridge where it once stood. Prehistorik Man! The platformer made by Titus back in 95 is what we are covering today, Ryan Holland reappears after a long hiatus as he and Tyler have a childhood history with this game. But that’s not all they cover, they talk girlfriend similarities, if you have to shave or not for certain activities, and serial killer Bob Berdella. Enjoy!

OOPS! ALL TANKS! We dun goofed for this one and played too many Battle Tank games. Luckily, Master Cycle Baron Kevin Link was on to even things up. Tyler and Dave played Super Battle Tank 2 and Link played Super Battle Tank. So we covered both - worry not! They are basically the same game. Lots of Tank Talk. Both literal and Girl varieties. We also find out what game Nikki has mastered and of whom Dave is truly jealous.

Tyler lifted his head from his Donny Jeffcoat signed bat, uttering his final word of prayer to the Randomizer. “C…tic….Pl….er.” the Randomizer whispered. “What? Celtic Pliers? What do you wish of us, Randomizer?” Tyler screamed into the void. “Cine…ic….Plat…er.” the Randomizer replied. Strength growing in its voice. “You don’t mean? Please. No.” Tyler whimpered in the night. “CINEMATIC PLATFORMER! PRINCE OF PERSIA!” The Randomizer howled with malice! So this week Tyler and Dave tackled Prince of Persia for the SNES. But its not as bleak at the Randomizer likely intended it to be. We talk DOS, Aladdin, take a quiz and do some real talk about Prince of Persia. Enjoy!

“MERRY CHRISTMAS!” The Randomizer shouted! “On Garbage! On Difficulty! On Copy and Pasting! On Licensing Franchising! Now Cash Grabs! Now Lies and Attrition!” It was then Tyler and Dave heard a rustling and down the chimney came a true piece of coal -Saban’s Power Ranger’s Zeo Battle Racers, to both of their woe. “Well,” said Tyler. “We could bring on the Brit to balance out this dump of a show.” It was then Dave replied with a smile, his nose red from Baja Blasting this very long while, “TO ALL A ROUGH LISTEN TO THIS GAME WE SHOULD ALL PISS IN!”

We stood at the edge of the abyss, staring into the violent darkness and shouted, "WE LOVE SANDWICH POPE PHIL HAWKINS! YOU CANNOT HAVE HIM!" and the darkness whispered back, "Have him then." So the Randomizer chose a Phil Hawkins game TWO WEEKS IN A ROW bringing us Ghoul Patrol this week! Have you heard of Ghoul Patrol? Probably not. Its the sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but you wouldn't guess that from the title. We talk about Bois, Burger King, and Kid's Cuisine - like always. But this time we all sprinkle in some Ghoul Patron chat. Enjoy!

From the darkest depths of the darkest night, the Randomizer chose for us play Dungeon Master, the 1992 port of a 1987 Atari ST dungeon crawler. It has some good history and some bad history. To do a proper study of this game we bring on Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins, as we do with all SNES dungeon crawlers. We talk about Melissa’s experience with the Country Music Awards, the glory of Herald Arthur’s battlecry of PINGAS, and our old stomping ground of Palace Chat. Enjoy!

Do you LOVE Conan the Barbarian? Do you love him so much you'll consume anything vaguely resembling him, including media that stole his imagine just to capitalize on his popularity? Do you LOVE poorly designed fighting games released far after any time that it could have been relevant? No? Good, because no one does. But theoretically if such an audience existed then WE TOTALLY HAVE A GAME FOR YOU! BATTLE BLAZE! Don't worry - not only do we do a deep dive into this ridiculousness, we also discuss odd fetishes and Richard Dawson. So come on down and enjoy our misery.

The Randomizer works in mysterious ways. After throwing sports game after sports game in our faces, IT FINALLY THROWS US SOMETHING IN OUR WHEEL HOUSE — months after it would have been SEO relevant — BUT STILL! So this week we break down Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems for the SNES! We start off by enjoying some snacks sent by Better Than Us Choctopus, we talk about Call of Cthulhu and just a bit about Star Wars, and then we wrap things up with a glorious quiz from Ross-Rachel Green.

It has been over two years since we have recorded our last actual play of the Call of Cthulhu tabletop role-playing game. Rhythm Master Paul Corn, Soul Sister Yarn Sorceress, and Casey (we'll probably come up with a great title for him at some point) join us to roll up some investigators for a campaign entitled Piggy Palace. It's an original story by Tyler that takes place in the crime-ridden streets of 1981 Vancouver, British Columbia. We present to you Chapter One of this story. The rest of the chapters will be available on our Patreon page. Chapter Two and a bonus session of our character creation is available there now!

ESPN Speed World, ESPN Baseball Tonight, ESPN National Hockey Night, and ESPN Sunday Night NFL. It is with these unholy elements we worship and seek the please our dark chaotic god, The Randomizer. Okay, we love the Randomizer but this week was a very rough one for us at TADPOG. Rather than do these as individual episodes (which would truly be no good for anyone) we chose to roll them into one episode. Honestly, they probably should have been on the same cartridge. So please enjoy our attempt to cross sport?

THIS EPISODE IS JAM PACKED FULL OF SPORTSISH STUFF! LADYBUGS! RODNEY DANGERFIELD! SPORTS QUIZZES! A REVIEW OF POPEYE’S CHICKEN SANDWICH! WE PROMISE YOU WILL ENJOY THIS PRETTY WEIRD EPISODE.

Champions World Class Soccer. That is what the Randomizer gave us for this week. I’m not going to mince words or beat around the bush. We ain’t soccer guys. This ain’t a good game. It ain’t gonna make us soccer hooligans. So we talk about it but we also just have fun with this episode. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy a stream of nonsense that has the most delicate soccer flavor that a podcast can have.

This week we're talking about Pac-In-Time, a platformer starting —you guessed it— Pac-Man himself. We also try some spicy seafood snacks, take a quiz, and get so very Baja Blasted.

Have you ever looked at Link, Hero of Time, and thought, "Damn, I wish that was Uncle Fester instead of Link"? Well, your wish becomes reality in Addams Family Values for the SNES! We get Baja Blasted and talk about the Addams Family movies, what we got up to during the week and take a very creative quiz from Ball Bro Ross Rachel Green.

Out of 100 people surveyed, the top one answer is on the board: name a Super Nintendo game which features two families competing to name the most popular responses to survey questions in order to win cash and prizes. Show me…Family Feud for the Super Nintendo! Number one answer! That’s a long way of saying we’re talking about Family Feud, the 1993 Super Nintendo adaptation of the game show by Imagineering. We’re recording in a new studio space for this episode, so there’s a little bit of talk about that. We try snacks that Tyler’s Boss and Boss-in-law brought back from Greece. Naturally, we draw parallels to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and our favorite Family Feud hosts. There’s a lot going on here, I guess is what we’re trying to say. We hope you enjoy!

We dared to walk into the darkness. We gathered our courage and took step after step into the inky blackness. We journeyed deeper than all others who came before us. We could see no light, we could see no end and we could see no beginning. It was there, in the absolute darkness, that we held our breath and whispered, “Show us the way. No whammies. No whammies. No whammies. Stop.” After an infinity in our minds that silence was broken; the darkness whispered back, “Mickey Mouse’s Ultimate Challenge.” TODAY, we cover Mickey’s Ultimate Challenge and bring back our dearly beloved Oathbreaker Blake Woods. We talk about World of Warcraft, a little Kim Kardashian, and then take some calls. We also give you the whole spectrum of adventure in this itty bitty game. Enjoy!

Vegas, baby! We’re talking about Vegas Stakes for the SNES. Who knows the American practice of Las Vegas style gambling and living? YOU KNOW IT’S ROSS RACHEL GREEN! We come in hot with stories about the Brain Surgery Bros, some more potential testicle surgeries, what Dave plans to do to make side money in his retirement, a story about a secret so deep that it took hypnotism to draw it out and just so so so many Albert Fish tangents. So if you like British intrigue, trusting strangers, and cannibalistic sadistic/masochistic serial killers – we just have the perfect SNES Vegas Stakes podcast episode for you!

Okay! Maybe you were expecting to hear an episode on Vegas Stakes for the Super Nintendo. That’s a legitimate expectation because on our last episode we stated that we would in-fact be covering Vegas Stakes. Welp. Due to some serious circumstances we were not able to make that happen, but we will get to it…eventually. In the meantime, please enjoy this Patreon bonus episode on Super Mario Odyssey that we released last year.
WARNING: This episode starts out with some siiiiick references to the following TV shows: Friends, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, and The Office. We also talk about Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch by request of Tyler (of TADPOG fame). We end up talking about Mario in a broader sense and talk generally about 3D platformers as a genre. We end by playing some listener voicemail. (Also, Tyler announces his new career as a Super Punch-Out!! speed runner.)

From the numerical ether, our withering god of randomness doth bequeath this game – King of the Monsters 2! So, it’s a game. We played it. We beat it. We talk about it. A little dash of DragonCon, a pinch of a package from Chris Murray, and gallon of 1 call full of Harrison Ford accusations from Terrified Michelle! So please come eat this monster of a TADPOG cake with us. The cake is also decorated with Minions per the request of a TADPOG Sweetheart, Nicole.

Salutations, honored TADPOG listener! Have you heard the good word of the Randomizer? In it’s limited and ever shrinking divinity but infinite wisdom it deals out both the greatest of pleasures and the most horrendous of pains! Today, fair listener, we received the the large uncomfortable end of the no-no stick this week with The Terminator. We try to make it good for you with a pretty good Kenna story, a new Back the Future timeline, some robot talk, some Wolverine talk and am amuse-bouche of Belle Delphine talk, oh, and we pitch a totally new direction for the show.

Hello Internet, and welcome to the backdoor pilot for “Borg Are Fortnite”, a Star Trek podcast hosted by Captain Gun Nerd Jon and Wizened Sage Ian. (And you thought we were going to talk about Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – Crossroads of Time for the SNES). Okay, we do talk about the cinematic platformer a little bit, but we mainly talk about Deep Space Nine and Star Trek in general. As if that’s not enough, we also open a package from Mastermold Mike, read a postcard from Matt, and take a quiz from Ross Rachel Green.

Let’s get this out of the way first. We do the Adventures of Yogi Bear, courtesy of the Randomizer, and i’ts about what you would expect. So, in order to enjoy our time with it – we truly get Baja Blasted and really go off the rails. We open a package from Bunny and Kira, and we do a deep dive into Hanna Barbera. Impressions are heavy, and spiked watermelon smoothies flow like the spice on Arrakis. Personally, we think this hits that “TADPOG Classic” tier. So please, enjoy and understand we know that Albert Fish was a terrible monster.

Captain Gun Nerd Jon and Wizened Sage Ian join us this week to talk about Road Riot 4WD for the SNES. This game is short and terrible…so there’s not an overwhelming amount of game talk. (If we’re being honest here, we probably discuss Gran Turismo 3 more than Road Riot 4WD). But! We’ve got another episode of SODA JERKS (the only podcast within a podcast) on this episode! We also eat some sour candy that was sent in by Mastermold Mike. We take a quiz courtesy of Ross Rachel Green, and there’s plenty of Marvel and Doctor Who talk.

Has it been a long and difficult week for you? Do you need some podcast TLC? Don’t you worry, baby, we got you covered. We invite the Top Fan and Sandwich Pope of the TADPOG Nation, Phil Hawkins, on to discuss the Randomizer chosen Wizardry V. Don’t worry, Phil can’t keep us track all the time so we delve into more Soda Jerks, Circumcision Trinkets, Dungeons and Dragons, and we take a sweet little magic quiz from our very own Ross-Rachel Green. You’ve got 2 hours of love headed your way, we hope you enjoy!

So I think you faithful listeners are sorta into video games like our podcast is sorta a video game podcast – so we change it up and bring you and entirely new podcast called SODA JERKS! where we review different totally common everyday sodas that you can get anywhere! Well, we do that for the first 30 minutes then we bow to whims of our Chaotic Neutral god and talk about Firestriker for the SNES. So between Jack updates, soda talk, Firestriker discussion and a special Billy related stinger- we think you’ll enjoy this one.

Are you like a lot of 90s kids and love the side scrolling beat ’em up genre? Are you one step beyond that and you’re a beat ’em up hipster and you’re all about a more obscure title from 1994 called The Peace Keepers? WELL GOOD FOR YOU SINCE WE SORT OF TALK ABOUT IT! But first we have updates on our children and our wives and we talk about hospitals and then eventually pirates and cars. But trust us, we spend a good chunk talking about this odd little gem. So please enjoy!

I know, I know. You’ve spent years pining after Dave’s brilliance on the Mario Paint episode. “GUYS, PLEASE DRAW MORE CARTOONS FOR PERVERTS!”, you’ve all been saying. Well, ALL HAIL THE RANDOMIZER and its gift of ACME Animation Factory. Dave made a truly beautiful twerking Sonic the Hedgehog. But we do talk about a very fun trip to Thorton’s Gas Station. We have both a Jack and a Nikki update. A very solid cartoon quiz. And, of course, all the kissing.

The Randomizer plunged deep into its most chaotic of black holes to bring us Gemfire by Koei, a 1992 turnbased tactics game. The Randomizer knew it would be Tyler’s birthday when this was recorded so it was the sweetest gift it could possibly give. We do talk about Gemfire but not without fulfilling Tyler’s birthday wish of commenting on AskReddit questions and exchanging tangential stories first. We talk about cars, cartoon cars, dry penises, another Dave, some retro gaming accessories and plenty of other stuff not Gemfire. Then some Gemfire.

By the grace of The Randomizer, welcome to our Art of Fighting episode where we talk about parenting a lot. But not just parenting, we recast Sex and the City with Street Fighter characters (it’s pretty perfect, don’t worry.). A defense is made for Monster energy drink and to better protect our Kyles. Have you wanted to hear an official prayer to The Randomizer? Good, we have one for review. Also, we debate whether or not Tyler should send pictures of his vasectomy, by request, to the sweetest fan from the Isle of Man.

Lord Dennis joins us this week to talk about NFL Quarterback Club and NFL Quarterback Club ’96 for the SNES. What would it be like to live with sixteen year-old versions of ourselves. Piss Liars! There is a quiz that we totally nail without any help from Dennis because we are super footballists.

Master Cycle Baron Link (back from the Temple of Time) joins us this week to talk about Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf, the 1992 helicopter shoot ’em up by Electronic Arts (specifically the SNES version). We have The Randomizer to thank for this one (all hail The Randomizer). There is a deep dive into the state of Tyler’s balls and a good update on Link’s balls. Did you miss TADPOG Theatre? No? Well, sorry. We present to you the short and sweet saga of podcast promoter Chris.Jarico.9.

The Randomizer is back, baby! (And it brought veteran guest host Miller with him #MoreMiller). What SNES game did The Randomizer bestow upon us today, you ask? Why, none other than Super Strike Eagle, the 1993 combat flight simulator for the SNES. If discussion about lackluster video game visuals and kludgy controls aren’t enough: we also talk about Tyler’s recent vasectomy! . And Miller tells us how to wreck a vintage golf cart. This episode brought to you by Norco.

Choctopus joins us as we turn our backs on The Randomizer (all hail The Randomizer!) for one week in order to talk about Goof Troop for the SNES. We talk about this 1993 Capcom action-adventure game (and anthropomorphic dog pirates), but in regular TADPOG fashion we meander down many paths of off-topic conversation. Yes, we swap chonky cat stories. We try to figure out who Mr. X is in the Resident Evil series. Do we spend time talking about Disney Afternoon cartoons and Nicktoons? Hyuck yes.

Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins joins our adventuring party and lends us his extraordinary personality to talk about Might and Magic III: The Isles of Terra for the SNES. We have felt the magic and we are accepting the challenge to talk about this 1995 port of the classic DOS role-playing game. There’s a lot of game talk in this one, but there’s also bonus Audio Memes(TM).

By the prismatic light of the Randomizer, we bring you King Arthur and the Knights of Justice. This show has it all: we take some calls where Patron Saint Zach tells Tyler he’s peaked and then lists snakes, we tell fast food horror stories, we talk about things being launched into large bowls, and there’s just the right amount of King Arthur.

It’s our first episode in TADPOG Hexagon! We’re (kinda) talking about Pro Sport Hockey for the SNES, the 1993 hockey game developed by Tose and published by Jaleco. Captain Gun Nerd Jon and Wizened Sage Ian join us and help us take this episode deep into “Oops! All Intro Stories” territory. There’s more Green Ranger talk that carries over from last episode, a little MCU talk, and Jon finds out that he’s not Irish. So many tangents you’ll think you’re in Geometry class.

Once again, ALL HAIL THE RANDOMIZER and its gift of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for the SNES. We talk about Fox Network contests for kids, the true awesome power of the Green Ranger, the tale of a Big Kid and a Cowboy Kid, and there’s even some talk about this little gem of a game. Also, soak in that stinger.

We know everyone LOVES it when we cover sports games, so courtesy of the our new TADPOG god, “The Randomizer”, we bring you a sports game every bit as good as we are – Roger Clemens’ MVP Baseball! We have to bring back Chris Black to fill in all the gaps. Tyler tells his story, “A Tale of Two Beggars” and Chris eats some 30 year old gum.

And on that day, Tyler and Dave began their long journey through the entire remainder of the SNES Library. How many companions would they discover along the way? How many forgotten treasures? How many tangents about their junk would lead them astray? Only time will tell. Join them today on the journey of 714 steps with The 7th Saga. But only if you have the strength of Ron Perlman, the dexterity of Ron Perlman, and the broadness of chin of, well, Ron Perlman.

Hey! Listen! It’s (basically) episode #500! So we chose a big hit of nostalgia in the form of Final Fight 2: Electric Boogaloo. You know we have to bring a little Bailey Jay, a little cringe, a little weird sex story, and lots and lots of Mike Haggar.

Andross is back! And we’re talking about Star Fox 2 (or as it’s known colloquially: Space Vulpine Jr.)! Do you want dry game talk exploring the development, cancellation and resurrection of Star Fox 2? We got that. There’s also a lengthy segment, courtesy of Executive Bruiser Janie and Terrified Michelle, where we crunch down on some Mexican snacks directly into the mics (now *that’s* what I call podcasting!). We wrap things up with a Fox Quiz from Quizmaster Bovine Bear Matt, we call Jacob (of wolf-fighting fame), and we answer a few listener voicemails.

With more cloaks and chains than a cultish orgy, we take a bribe and play Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, the 1995 action/beat ’em up for the Super Nintendo. Thanks Mysterious iTunes Donor- Tim I. Tunes who totally didn’t bribe us to produce an episode on this game, we dove full tilt into the 90s fest that is this game. We have plenty of deep religious discussion, sexual merchandise, and well researched John Leguizamo trivia.

Here it is: our final episode on Konami’s Suikoden. Do we gush about our favorite moments? Yup. But we also quote Sun Tzu and talk about Tyler’s “Trash Room” from his college days. We wrap things up by taking a Pseudo quiz sent to us by Quiz Master Bovine Bear.

Oh man, where to start on this one. We talk Suikoden (or Suidoken) with half of TADPOG Sweethearts Josh Nance but we also talk about the origins of JOSHFORT Castle, Cuck E. Cheese’s, The New Waterfowl Pantheon, and plenty of D&D references. Maybe this one could be called “classic” TADPOG. We hope you enjoy.

Fresh off the the heels of the Louisville Arcade Expo, we are discussing Suikoden. Soo-ee-ko-dan?? But really, this game has been on our to-do list since the beginning of the podcast. So…you might want to actually get ready for some game talk. The love had been edging for years and finally gets to erupt forth. We also open a hand-delivered package from First Time Caller Nate Glines, we rank french fries, and we wrap things up by listening to voicemail.

Hey, Jeppy! We’re talking about Smart Ball, the 1992 SNES Action-Adventure game by Game Freak. (They called it Jerry Boy in Japan, you probably know it by that name). Not only do we talk about slime boys, we open a Christmas card in March from The Piggs! We also take a moment to cast TV dads as the Seven Deadly Sins.

Tyler’s back, baby! …and we’re talking about Caveman Games, the 1990 port of Caveman Ughlympics for the NES. We bring on leading TADPOG Nation anthropologist, Edgelord Kyle to talk about this historically authentic “sports video game”. We wrap things up by listening to some voicemails.

It’s a bug hunt. Jacob York (of wolf fighting fame), joins Dave on this episode to discuss Into the Breach, the turn-based strategy game by Subset Games. Outside of game discussion, there are many references to the Funky Kong religion which was founded on last week’s episode. We also talk about Toad’s anatomy a little bit, and of course we make plans to purchase GamePro.

Get your holes ready! One-half of TADPOG Sweethearts, Josh Nance, joins the podcast to talk about Donut County, the 2018 indie game by Ben Esposito. Tyler is out this week, so this is a JADPIG episode (Josh and Dave Play Indie Games, duh). While unsupervised, Dave and Josh found a Funky Kong religion and talk about cat murder on a local scale!

Jacob York (of wolf fighting fame) joins Dave on this episode to discuss Minit, the 2018 adventure game. This game isn’t old and Tyler is missing! Yeah, we’re bucking all kinds of trends on this one. Where is Tyler?? We put on our sleuthing hats and get to the bottom of that mystery. We also talk about Breath of the Wild, Zelda games in general, Dark Souls, and Darkest Dungeon.

Of course it’s about time we talk about Crash Bandicoot by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation! And what is a podcast about Crash without a little talk about Dexter and Frasier? We invited famed Cootologist, Exalted Lord Mike of Perdue, on this episode to help us break down the game. We take a Marsupial Soup quiz, which was sent in by Bovine Bear Matt.

Do you love the 2000s? Do you love Jerry Seinfeld? Then don’t worry your head because there is plenty of talk about the smash 2007 hit Bee Movie! We also take a small tangent to bring on Drew and Bailey Rowland of Hops and Heroes fame to discuss the Data East game Bad Dudes. We also settle the argument between spaghetti and maple syrup, create a billion dollar underwear idea and take the baddest quiz courtesy of Bovine Bear Matt Cowan.

Happy (day after) New Year! Now that we have severely dated yet another episode—Chocto (you know him from YouTube) joins us on this one to talk about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. Yes, we realize this game is less than a month old. It hardly qualifies as an “old game” but we do our best to shoehorn retro gaming references in (okay, maybe not our best). We focus on the Adventure Mode a lot but we also talk about the game in a broader sense, and we end up talking about previous Smash Bros. games as well. Of course we talk about our mains and speculate on DLC fighters. During the middle of the show a strange package from Link makes an appearance. We wrap things up by tackling a Smash Quiz that was sent in by Quiz Master Bovine Bear Matt.

Merry (day after) Christmas! Now that we have severely dated this episode—Rhythm Master Paul Corn and Soul Sister Yarn Sorceress Chandra join us on this one to talk about Doki Doki Literature Club by Dan Salvato. It’s a free visual novel released on Windows, Mac, and Linux. We don’t typically do this but…we’re going to show our hand here in the written post and say that this visual novel is very good and it is worth experiencing. We recommend you check it out before listening to the back half of this episode because we spoil it like a chihuahua in an expensive purse. The first forty minutes are filled with us goofing off, eating exotic “meat products” sent in by our friend Link, and playing a fun game called “Dumpster Treasure or Prized Possession” brought to us by Holy Dumpster Diver, so that’s all spoiler-free content. We wrap things up by responding to listener voicemails.

We figured it was the perfect time to invite Steven Michael (the creator of the RGM group and Nerdy Thursday Super Fan) on to the show to dish about the game with us. Enjoy!

Did you really love last week’s episode of Symphony of the Night? No? TOOOOOO BAD! We are back with more talk over the game. On this episode we further our quest to play and discuss every Castlevania game, and this one is a big one. Foretold years ago by the Necromancer Shaft, TADPOG would do at least two episodes of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Many heroes stepped up to go on this journey and those chosen today are one-half of TADPOG’s Sweethearts Josh Nance and Ruby on Rails Baron Paul Clewell. We have chosen our healing potions in the form of stout beer from Kevin Link. We sharpen our blades and manage to keep on track so we can give this game its due, and we also create the hero we all deserve. Cooter Belmont.

Hot dawg! We figured that this was a good week for a swell podcast about Cuphead, the run-and-gunner by StudioMDHR. While this game may have released in 2017, it is undeniably retro-inspired. We talk about the game but we also talk about cartoons in general, and we take a Boss Rush quiz which was submitted by Quizmaster Matt. As if that’s not enough, we are joined by Coco (aka CocoConfession on Twitch) to help us talk about the finer points of the game!

Did you not get enough of our popular Fallout 4 episodes that eventually people started to complain about since there were so many? You’re in luck! We do a TODPOG episode over every little bit of the Fallout 4 DLC. Just to make sure we cover everything we bring on Drinksmith Joey Webster and Ross Rachel-Green of the Nothing to Play podcast. We eat some weird and spicy foods courtesy of Kevin Link of Super Bomberman 2 fame. Ross tells a very British bathroom story. Joey celebrates his TADPOGiversary. We actually talk DLC, take a quiz and give some beards and glasses. If you’re ready to round out your TADPOG Fallout 4 experience then this one is for you!

Hold on to your hats (Bull, Dragon, or Jet) because this episode is all about Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3! It’s a weird little platformer that was released by Nintendo for the Game Boy in 1994. We take some time to figure out if greed is good. We also talk about surgeries and Spider Man, and we take two quizzes. Over the course of the episode we fail to name so many things we reference.

Sleepy spici chocolately bois ahead.
You like that sweet Gothic Action Platformer talk that we do oh-so often when we talk about Castlevania? We have more when we discuss the new retro style offering, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. But of course we also have to talk about The Hardy Boys and how Frank and Joe Hardy should influence “classic TADPOG” episode art. Did someone say Frasier Call of Cthulhu? Of course we cover that. We open a package from Mastermold Mike, Tyler issues a Spin-Off quiz, and we wrap it all up with a dramatic reading.

We plunge into the murky poo-poo water beneath the Big Apple long enough to talk about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES. Yes, that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles—freaks on fire, April showing her support, electric seaweed! We open a package from Listener Sean. Yes, we make TMNT parallels to Frasier as well as Friends.

You know we had to do an Electric Boogaloo for FFXI! So Miller is back with for more Final Fantasy XI talk. Dave’s Old Wendy’s Nemesis rears his head once again. Tyler returns from Disney World having learned more of life’s lessons. Drew from For the Love of Indie gives us a very nice package. Incredibly Tough Trousers Monster (It’ll make sense after you listen). If you liked the break down from last episode of FFXI, then you’ll definitely enjoy us finishing up this two part episode.

Put your party flag up because this week we are talking about Final Fantasy XI, the 2002 MMORPG by Square. We have wanted to do an episode on this game for a long time and we are joined by our resident MMOlogist, Shawn Miller of #MoreMiller fame. All three of us played Final Fantasy XI at its height and in this episode we barely scratch the surface of this immense game, but we do have a lot of fun reminiscing about our time spent in Vana’diel. We open a new package full of treats from listeners Bunny and Kira. We tell stories about our gross early apartments. Dave contributes to the stray cat population epidemic. And perhaps most notable for TADPOG Lore Masters, He Who Shall Not Be Named…is named. We had so much fun recording this one that we would like to continue it some day; we hope you enjoy.

This week we channel our rage in the form of rippling muscle and talk about Abobo’s Big Adventure between bouts of uncontrollable “fury shrieks”. Ah, now that’s what I call podcasting! We can’t help but make comparisons to Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. We also open a mysterious package from a mysterious listener.

We strap on our respective mawashis to talk about Tsuppari Ozumo, the 1987 sumo wrestling game developed and published by Tecmo for the Nintendo Famicom. So…why are we covering this game? Well. We’re done talking about the games on the NES Classic, and this one is on the Famicom Mini (also Dave really wanted to play it). If you’ve been listening to the show for a while you know that we aren’t exactly what you would call “sports experts” but maybe Tsuppari Ozumo is the game that converts us. Maybe from this point forward we become real big Sumoheads. At the very least, we discuss the game. We open a package from Trash Bear.

We’re talking about Solomon’s Key for the NES…kinda. You love 45 minute intro stories, right? Tyler tells a slumber party story and talks about their ‘tivities. Circus Skate Guy is back, baby! We talk about little kids behind their backs. For probably too long. Tyler issues a “Key Quiz”. We take a few calls. We thank a few people. We all have a good time.

Welp. We did it. We’ve reached the end of another list. We’ve already done an episode on Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, so this episode concludes our NES Classic series. And it is a loooong episode! Josh (of Uniracers fame) and Brandon (of being Tyler’s childhood friend fame) join us to talk about this Nintendo classic: The Legend of Zelda. There’s some game talk. But there’s also a church basement story. Tyler gets pretty drunk and we open a package from Edge Lord Kyle.

We don’t talk about this a lot because of the stigma that surrounds blob ownership…but we have a blob in the studio. It’s true. A couple of months ago we scraped together enough money from Patreon (thank you donors) to order our very own blob. Once a week we feed our blob a sriracha-flavored jelly bean, and he transforms into a pair of microphones and then we say dirty words into him. On a completely unrelated side-note: on this week’s episode we’re talking about David Crane’s A Boy and His Blob: Trouble in Blobolonia for the NES. We take a Which Jelly Bean Are You personality quiz? Tyler issues a jelly trivia quiz. We take a voicemail from longtime listener Fred.

Are you ready for some foooootball? We are!…or not? Either way, we strap on our helmets for this episode and talk about Tecmo Bowl for the NES. If you’re a longtime listener of our podcast, you know that sports games aren’t really our strong suit. That’s okay. We’re calling an audible (that’s a football thing, right?) and we’re bringing Time Lord Josh Edwards onto the field to lend us his gridiron know-how. Tyler issues a sports pop quiz, and we take a voicemail from Edge Lord Kyle about his personal experience with the game.

What do we do on this episode? Tyler’s Adventure in Dream Land ends with the most special chicken, Dave gets a Steam Link, Tyler plays a mobile game and goes to Graceland and we both dive into Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for the Game Boy.

Hot off the heels (hot on the heels?…whichever) of Mario Is Missing! We’re talking about the next Radical Entertainment and The Software Toolworks jam: Mario’s Time Machine. Ah, Mario’s Time Machine. It most certainly is a game. Thanks to Mastermold Mike Lanham for a surprise gift. DAVE WORD SLAMS HIS BOSS! We discuss the kind of person who works out in jeans, we talk about fake breasts, we recall what it was like to make our moms cry for the first time, and we pitch the Summer 2018 NES Classic. Tyler didn’t make any notes for this episode, so you know how good this one is going to be.

It’s time to tune your Radical Datafax to TADPOG for a conversation on Mario Is Missing! You have something hard to drink, right? It may be needed to get through this game but maybe not through this episode. We talk condiments from across the pond (courtesy of Ross Rachel Green), Rap Snacks, there’s a hobo update, and a deep dive into Multiplicity. Collect three artifacts and summon whatever second rate Yoshi you can from Antarctica and our episode on Mario Is Missing!

This week we’re talking about Super C for the NES. Hey! Super C is a Contra game. Did you know that? We might not have. Anyway, it’s on the NES Classic so we’re talking about it. We eat chocolate from Ross Rachel Green in England or Great Britain or the UK, or wherever he is hiding. Tyler issues a quiz. Don’t worry, there is a deaf hobo update.

Start ropics? Startropical Capricorn? STARTROPICS! That’s what we are doing for this week’s rundown of the games on the NES Classic, as brought to you by Mastermold Mike. Are you super thirsty for all that StarTropic goodness? Well, don’t be. It is a very long walk through hobos asking for money and Brandon of Axelay fame calling you a skank before we get there. Really, we do talk about the game but not for about 40 minutes. So don’t say we didn’t warn you, but it’s totally worth it to take that journey with us.

We are joined by Sandwich Pope Phil Hawkins and Time Lord Josh Edwards to talk about TADPOG Nation’s expedition to Louisville Arcade Expo 2018 (aka TADPOG Prom). We open listener mail that was personally delivered to us at Prom, we talk about Jager Lunch, video game tournaments, go karts and angry hotel neighbors.

We’ve been playing our way through the NES Classic alphabetically and we made it to Pac-Man. We’ve already discussed Pac-Man, so Dave really wanted to talk about one of his favorite games of all-time: Ms. Pac-Man. To keep with the NES theme we decided to talk about Ms. Pac-Man for the NES. And because we’re apparently into taking risks, we decided to play the unlicensed Tengen Ms. Pac-Man for the NES (for the cooperative play). We also talk about finger smells, narcissism is a running theme, we listen to voicemail, and we prepare to embark for the Lousiville Arcade Expo.

Like two ghosts in the moonlight, the ninja podcasters stalk their prey. Yes, that’s right, we’re talking about Ninja Gaiden for the NES. If that’s not enough: We talk about jeans! We offhandedly mention Shallow Hal! There’s a Ninja Quiz!

On this week’s episode, we are continuing our Valentine’s Day tradition by talking about a romantic game with Rhythm Master Paul and Soul Sister Yarn Sorceress Chandra. The romantic game being discussed? Why that would be the 2017 (that counts as “old” right?) visual novel Dream Daddy published by Game Grumps. But that’s not all! We also eat Bad Dog spicy jellies and there is a “TV Dads Quiz”.

In 1990, a dark decision was made with a house of light. A diabolical deal was struck and the Super Mario Bros. movie was greenlit. On this very special declassified episode, we sit down to talk about this dystopian romp through a cyberpunk alternate universe. Dave legitimately gets upset and removes his glasses, which temporarily breaks the illusion spell which conceals his true identity, revealing his demonic form. So…if you’re into that kind of thing, do we have an episode for you!

Wednesday is upon us again, and we’re continuing our quest to discuss each game on the NES Classic. In this episode we’re talking about Mario Bros. No, not that Mario Bros., the original Mario Bros. Y’know, the 1983 arcade platformer that was ported to the NES. It’s been a snowy week here at TADPOG HQ, so there are a few snow stories. We also decide that it’s important to know your sexual lemons. We learn about Kario, there is a celebrity twins quiz, and we take some calls.

This week we’re continuing our playthrough of the games on the NES Classic by talking about Kirby’s Adventure, the 1993 Nintendo platformer. We talk about the game for quite a bit but we also try a spicy package from Padawan Joey Webster; dwell on Family Feud; and Dave administers the darkest quiz we’ve ever done on the show!

We could be out searching for three sacred treasures and squaring off against Medusa’s army, but we decided to just record a podcast episode about Kid Icarus instead. That’s right, we’re still playing through the games on the NES Classic in alphabetical order and now Nintendo’s 1987 action platformer gets its turn in the spotlight. Also: the podcast is now five years old! We open a spicy package from Ruby Baron Paul Clewell of Loaded Cart Podcast, and in honor of the protagonist of Kid Icarus, there is a Famous Pits Quiz.

We assure you that there is game talk but we also take some time to open an incredible package from Terrified Michelle. There’s grousing about office Christmas parties. There are spoiler-free opinions on The Last Jedi. We come up with concepts for new t-shirts. And there is a Starship quiz.

Being the wise and courageour podcasters that we are, we feel strongth welling in our bodies. This feeling can only mean one thing: it’s time to talk about Ghosts ‘n Goblins, the 1986 Capcom platformer for the NES. We also talk about difficult games in general, QTPi “mearch”, sexual miscommunications, and Dave administers a “Ghosts or Goblins” quiz.

We’re recording in a new studio, hereforth known as Blanket Oasis. We talk about the upcoming meet-up (aka TADPOG Prom) at the 2018 Louisville Arcade Expo. There are two quizzes: a Gal Quiz and an Alien Bugs Quiz, and we wrap things up by answering listener voicemail.

We, TADPOG, will knock you all down!! Just kidding! We just want to podcast about Final Fantasy, the 1987 role-playing game for the NES. We’ve formed our four-person Party of Light by inviting Josh Nance (of Uniracers fame) and Drew Rowland of (Hops and Heroes fame) to guest-host. This is a game-heavy episode for sure, but don’t worry there is a “Weird Final Fantasy Syllable Replacement Quiz”.

Don’t worry, we also come up with Fantastic Four employment parallels, we talk about the middle school overall craze, there’s a Bike Quiz, and we answer listener voicemail.

We take up arms and storm Dracula’s tower on this episode of the podcast where we try to deliver just the wettest Castlevania III conversation that you can imagine. When we’re not talking about whips, stairs and monsters, we’re talking about making friends, inappropriate Facebook posts, and we open a listener package from Executive Producer Janie. The year is 19XX. The nuclear war was not friendly to the world. Crawling out from underneath the irradiated rubble are two young men brave enough to discuss Double Dragon II: The Revenge—Tyler and Dave. Yes, the quest to play all 30 games on the NES Classic continues! There’s a “Double Quiz” courtesy of Sandwich Pope Phil, in addition to conversation about Billy and Jimmy. We also talk about incest, potty training, and reveal Bowser Junior’s secret identity. We also answer some voicemail!

Now let’s come out boxing! So far we’ve been playing through the NES Classic games alphabetically, but for this episode we’re switching up the order for a special reason. Drew Rowland (long-time listener, fellow podcaster and friend of the show) is tying the knot with Bailey (of Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker fame) this week! Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! is one of Drew’s favorite games of all time, so we’ve decided to talk about it and it’s rerelease, Punch-Out!! (with Mr. Dream), in honor of the upcoming nuptials. Um, we also explore some dark places on this episode…so enjoy that! And don’t forget to join the Nintendo Fan Club today!

Dattebayo! We’re taking a short break from the NES Classic games to talk about one of Dave’s favorite games. Captain Gun Nerd Jon Turley joins us to talk about Naruto: Gekito Ninja Taisen! 4 (aka Naruto Gecko Ninja Mike Tyson), the 2005 GameCube fighting game by Tomy. In addition to talking about the game: we talk about the Naruto anime, we all decide which sitcom couple best parallels our individual relationships with our significant others, and we talk about Star Trek quite a bit. There is a super difficult Naruto quiz!

We also talk about spoopy cereal, procedural television, and it is revealed that Tyler was not eaten by a crocodile contrary to popular belief. There is also a “Rib, Heart, Eye, Nail, or Ring Quiz”.

REANIMATE! We’re taking a break from playing through the games on the NES Classic long enough to talk about Crypt of the NecroDancer with Rhythm Master Paul and Soul Sister Yarn Sorceress Chandra. NecroDancer is what it looks like when a rhythm game meets a roguelike dungeon crawler. Aside from game talk, we eat gross jellybeans; Chandra comes at us with some sweet sweet Garfield JOI; there are two (count ’em—two!) quizzes on this episode: a Wizard Quiz and a Necromancer Quiz; and there’s plenty of Dragon Ball talk (we legit discuss Piccolo’s wiener for like five minutes).

Grab your whip, your cross and your holy water. On this episode we’re talking about Castlevania, the third game on the NES Classic. There’s also lively discussion about sex benches, wall meat and heart sconces. We open a package of snacks from across the pond, courtesy of Ross. There is totally a monster quiz.

Now it is the beginning of a fantastic story! That’s right, we’re talking about Bubble Bobble on this episode as we continuing playing through the thirty games bundled on the NES Classic. We talk about the game plenty, but we also open packages from listeners Edgelord Kyle and Sandwich Pope Phil. Youngling Choco Chica joins us to try a bunch of chocolate…and there’s even a bubble quiz!

With the Call of Cthulhu Actual Play finished, we decided to sit down and discuss the game. We ask questions like: What did the investigators miss? How else could the story have ended? Why didn’t Alex “Chili Dog” Peterson just uppercut Cthulhu? Joining the discussion is the sweetest pair of sweethearts you’ve ever met: Josh and Nicole (aka investigators Brock and Donna). Tyler explains the motivations and inspirations behind this game and Josh clarifies what he meant by “that ending sucks”.

The date is August 9, 1977. This is it. This is the end. The investigators have Berkowitz’s .44 caliber revolver in their possession and are making plans to disrupt the Cthulian ritual. Will Donna, Brock and Chili Dog successfully thwart Lafitte and stop the coming of Cthulhu? Or will the bones of the investigators find a new residence beneath the New York City docks?

We’re kicking off our playthrough of the NES Classic Edition library on this episode! The first game up for discussion is…Balloon Fight! Tyler has a couple of great announcements. We define Tylerance. We talk about roommates who shave their body parts. There is a quiz!

Over the last four years we’ve played through IGN’s Top 100 SNES Games of All Time, Dorkly’s Top 25 N64 Games, and this episode marks the end of our journey through Digital Trends’ 25 Best Sega Genesis Games. We wrap the list up with DT’s number one pick: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It’s a platformer developed by Sega…you might have heard of it. We also announce the next list we’ll be tackling, we double up on quizzes, there’s a story about bears and pancakes, and even a review of the new Coke Zero Sugar.

So, here it is. The “missing” episode where we talk about Sesame Street Fighter by flavourmachine. We recorded this bad boy back in January and it’s finally seeing the light of day. Why the delay? Well. The audio sucks (Internal Mike strikes again). But hey, if you like your podcast episodes extra grungy and “underground” then you might appreciate the audio quality (or lack thereof) of this episode. Naturally we talk about the game but we also talk about butt shelves. Butt shelves.

This is a game-heavy episode, which we guess is okay because it’s “technically” a “video game podcast”. Anyway, we’re talking about Samurai Shodown, the second-ranked game on Digital Trends’ list of 25 Best Sega Genesis games. Do not worry, we also talk about tee-ball.

We’re back on the Digital Trends list this week—which can only mean one thing—it’s time for Super Street Fighter II for the Sega Genesis. We talk about the game for a bit, but more importantly, we try a Marmite grilled cheese sandwich. We also open a listener package, pee in Swift the fox’s mouth, and brainstorm some charity stream ideas.

It is late in the day on August 8, 1977. The investigators have finally dealt with the monstrous Harvey, saved the neighborhood children from their imminent demise, and—left with no other option—have contacted Mr. Zeus of the CIA and the Knights Templar to inform him of their situation. This recording picks up in Mr. Zeus’s vehicle while en route to his temple.

The date is August 8th, 1977. Investigators Brock Malone, Donna Jackson, and Alex “Chili Dog” Peterson have just had a horrific encounter with the dog known as Harvey, the alleged messenger to the Son of Sam. The investigators fled after Harvey revealed his true form, leaving their only lead in a flaming New York City alley. Left with dwindling options, the investigators decide to track down someone who might be their strongest ally or their worst enemy.

Hi, we’re just two boys taking a break from the equinarium long enough to record an NSFW podcast episode about a tactical RPG. Yep, that’s right—we’re still gushing about Shining Force II, DigitalTrends’ fourth-ranked best Sega Genesis game. We open a package we received from Pinball Archmage Chris Edler and then talk about anthropomorphic animals who fight devils. Additionally, Tyler tries to shed his spider-sense by having his yes-yes hole washed out.

The date is August 8th in the early hours of the morning. The investigators have recently had their minds broken and remolded into actual reality. Brock, Donna and Chili Dog now leave the Process Church—exhausted, broken and worried—and are on the way to investigate a necessary lead at the respective apartments of Steve and Ian, the owners of Studio 54. There will be skill ups!

The date is August 7, 1977. It is late into the night. The investigators have infiltrated the Process Church and have found their way through a locked room into a secret basement leading into darkness. The investigators can hear the sound of running water and quiet muttering echoing from deep within. A trap door reveals a carved stone staircase that descends into darkness. THERE WILL BE COMBAT.

It’s been awhile since the Suicide Boys have discussed something from Digital Trends’ list of best Sega Genesis games, but here we are talking about Shining Force II. This 1993 tactical role-playing game is one of Tyler’s favorites and is a completely new experience for Dave. There’s actually lots of game talk in this episode but also a lot of catching up and announcements. Tyler blows Dave’s mind with a skin-related revelation, we open what we think is candy, and Dave plugs the Twitch channel a lot.

The date is August 6, 1977. Donna Jackson, Brock Malone and Alex “Chili Dog” Peterson wake up and deal with the aftermath of the supernatural night before. Find out in this installment of our Call of Cthulhu Actual Play.

The events in this recording occurred on August 5, 1977 in New York City. Three strangers were dragged together into the roiling chaos of a city pushed to the edge by the Son of Sam. Nicole is playing the role of the cunning Donna Jackson, who is living on the wrong side of the law. Josh is playing Brock Malone, the tough as nails New York City detective. Dave returns as Alex “Chili Dog” Peterson, the drummer turned karate instructor. We are dreadfully delighted to present Tyler’s second session of our Call of Cthulhu Actual Play.

It has been a little over a year since we have recorded an actual play of a tabletop role-playing game. So! We got the band back together. That’s right, baby! TADPOG Sweethearts Josh and Nicole Nance join us to roll up some investigators for a Call of Cthulhu Actual Play entitled “August 5th, 1977”. It’s an original story by Tyler so it’s kind of a big deal. It has been awhile since any of us have played Call of Cthulhu—so we spend some time shaking off the rust—but we assure you that characters get created.

We’re celebrating our 400th podcast episode this week by talking about Manhunt (kind of), the stealth-based survival horror PlayStation 2 game by Rockstar Games. Stand-up comedian Jorge Machean and Wizened Sage Ian join us to help talk about New Zealand’s favorite game. We do a lot of other stuff too! We open a package from Kana Ha, we try cursed Nutela, Dave administers a hunt-themed quiz, we talk about television and we just end up talking about murder a lot.

Princess Consuela Banana Hammock Virginity Thief Taryn joins us for our final all calls show (let’s face it, probably not). We are answering voicemail from October and November 2016. Yep. We clear up some confusion about the origin of Dead Souls and Yetis and probably create more confusion in the process of explaining. We receive a gift from Mastermold Mike! We talk about dreams! We write a Skittles commercial. We talk about Football, BBQ and Jesus. And Taryn hears a voicemail that she forgot she left.

Because absolutely no one asked for it…we’re talking about Ballz on this episode of the podcast! That’s right, Ballz — the 1994 fighting game for the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis developed by PF Magic. Spoilers: We didn’t like it much! We take breaks from administering smackies long enough to discuss Dead Souls and Yetis, talk about some Netflix shows, and answer some listener voicemail too.

It’s been a long time since we’ve talked about a Game Boy Color game on the podcast…some might say it’s been ages! (Pause for laughter). Anyway, we’re actually talking about two Game Boy Color games from a little-known indie series called The Legend of Zelda (you probably haven’t heard of it). Yes, that’s right. We’re talking about Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, each developed by Flagship (Capcom) and published by Nintendo in 2001. We also open a package from Trashbear Joe Willard, a wedding invitation, and a package from Mastermold Mike. We take some voicemail, we bestow a new title and we struggle to come up with a kangaroo cereal mascot.

On this episode of the podcast, we return to Duckburg to talk about QuackShot, the 1991 Sega Genesis platformer developed and published by Sega. QuackShot (starring Donald Duck) has been on Dave’s “List of Games to Play” for a couple of years now. Was it worth the wait? We open a couple of packages while we wait for the answer of that question. We also answer some listener voicemail. Perhaps most importantly, we debate the following superhero deathmatches: Batman vs the Ninja Turtles and Goku vs Superman.

This week we’re talking about Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure for the Sega Genesis. We asked the biggest Boogerman fan we know, Ryan (of being Tyler’s Brother fame), to join us on this episode. Something weird happened to Galen so we end up calling Jacob to get the scoop. We announce the winner of the River City Ransom: Underground give away, and pick some listeners at random to win local Tater Day Festival shirts! We open two wonderful packages sent to us by anonymous listeners which naturally leads to us doing a Golden Girls Mad Lib.

BARF! This week we’re talking about River City Ransom: Underground by Conatus Creative, the new follow-up to the 1989 NES cult-classic River City Ransom. Of course you remember that Blake joined us to talk about the original River City Ransom way back in 2015 (Episode 184 for those keeping score at home). Here at TADPOG we strongly believe in tradition as long as it’s cheap and convenient. So…good news, everyone (spoken in the best Professor Farnsworth impression we can muster)! We asked Oathbreaker Blake Woods to join us on this episode. Rhythm Master Paul Corn enters the fray as a new challenger who tells a poop story.

We’re joined by TADPOG Sweetheart Josh and Wizened Sage Ian to talk about Ultima Online, the 1997 MMO by Origin Systems. Things get hot and sweaty as we try a bunch of hot sauces sent to us by Faceful of Alien Wing Wong. Burger Bottom Jon gets a new title (sorry Jon). Dave becomes intoxicated by memories of virtual murder. Who knew four sweaty adult men crammed into a blanket fort could have this much fun?

All Calls are back, baby! We start by cracking open a package from Faceful of Alien Wing Wong. What’s inside that package? Is it a bunch of a region exclusive Doritos? Probably! Then we answer some listener voicemail. Tyler makes an important request to TADPOG Nation for the name of a cartoon featuring a wizard who controls shapes. We talk about Weird Skeeter. It’s revealed that Patron Saint Zach is old and TADPOG Sweetheart Josh is an immortal Mod God. There’s more Hoarders talk. And we start laying the groundwork for TADPOG Hunger Games.

Burger Bottom Jon Turley returns (Jon, we’re gonna work on a new title for you, buddy)! And he’s here to play Audience Surrogate while we tell stories from the Louisville Arcade Expo (aka TADPOG Prom). There are tales from the go kart track! There are drunken tales of debauchery brought to you by Jägermeister! There’s a story about a field trip to the Pussycat Lounge! There’s even a little talk about the expo too!

Drew and Bailey from Hops and Heroes join us to give their impressions of Persona 4, the RPG by Atlus. We do talk about the game a little, but there are lots of tangents about Bailey’s hair, the delicious and affordable Aldi/Trader Joe’s Thanksgiving, using an iPad with a large fleshy sponge-finger and of course Chris Gaines.

JRPG or GTFO, you know how we roll. Wizened Sage Ian joins us for a special TODPOG episode where Tyler tells us about Persona 3 for the PlayStation 2 and PSP. Some talk spills over to conversation about the Shin Megami Tensei series as a whole. Lots of other great stuff happens in this episode: Tyroni Baloney debuts and tells us a cat story, the phrase “Suck him dry!” is thrown around a lot, an Illuminati plot is revealed(!), and we talk about the upcoming Fantasy World Patreon bonus episode.

Well here we are, continuing our annual Valentine’s Day tradition of discussing an anime romance game with Rhythm Master Paul and Soul Sister Yarn Sorceress Chandra. This year we each tirelessly deliberated on what game to talk about. We journeyed across deserts, slogged through swamps and traversed via Tauntaun — all in search of the game with the perfect perversion. What game could possibly compete with Hatoful Boyfriend and HuniePop for igniting conversation? I’m not sure…but we selected Nekopara Vol.1.

Hello, we’re just two boys who took some time out of our day to talk about Double Dragon IV. ‘Wait a minute! That’s one of those new-fangled vidjya game releases, right?’ Why yes, Imaginary Disembodied Voice, it is! Well, kinda. We’ll get into that a little bit on this episode, don’t worry. But first we’ll share sexy stories! And we promise there is a Dragon Quiz somewhere in this episode.

TADPOGlodytes! We must take up arms to defeat the profound evil that has invaded TADPOG Nation! Just like history’s great warriors Cuauhtemoc, Miyamoto Musashi, and William Wallace, we compare and discuss Golden Axe and Golden Axe II for the Sega Genesis. During our epic journey through beat ’em up fantasy, we pause to replenish our health and invigorate our spirits by opening a package from listener Shane Davis. We cower in fear before a urethral plug and suffer defeat to a volley of voice mail complications. Enjoy!

Tyler and Dave, back in the saddle! Josh (of Uniracers fame) joins us to wrap up our discussion about Phantasy Star IV for the Sega Genesis. We finish talking about the game’s story and the rest of the game’s cast: Demi, Wren, Kyra, and Seth. If that’s not enough to entice you to hit the play button: We sip on Ecto Cooler Iced Tea and talk about circumcision (of the male and female variety!); Dave reveals his suicide notebook; Tyler and Josh talk about the LEGO universe they created; and we read a listener postcard from California.

This time we start our delve into the story of Phantasy Star IV, including the introduction to iconic characters like Chaz, Alys, Hahn, Rune, Gryz, and Rika. Some other important stuff happens too! We continue to rummage through Ruby Baron Paul Clewell’s package of barbecue sauces; we launch our annual Fruitcake Giveaway; Tyler quotes Tokyo Mew Mew; and we receive a postcard from the Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium.

Hey, wait a minute! Is this episode really about Mariah Carey, or are we just serving up some hot click bait? Either way, Melissa (aka Brainy Gatsby) joins us for an episode where we answer listener voicemail and text messages. What could possibly be more “Mariah Carey” than that? We talk about which games we’ve both spent playing; we discuss Sandwich Governors; we meet Chewbacco; we talk about Taylor Swift…kinda; and dad totally sends us a postcard from Beverly Hills!

Believe it or not, we are finally talking about Digital Trends’ 6th-ranked Sega Genesis game: Phantasy Star IV. We review the game’s basic mechanics, and reveal our favorite characters and memories. But wait, there’s more! We open a huge package from Ruby Baron Paul Clewell, and Dave’s dad calls in to tell us everything he knows about Phantasy Star IV. We take some calls, and (of course) we invent Borat Chess.

Pinball Archmage Chris Edler returns! It’s been awhile since we last recorded a show with Chris, so he made the journey down to TADPOG Blanket Fort to talk about Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball for the Sega Genesis. We answer hard hitting questions in this episode like: “Do actual pinball skills carry over to this game?”, and “What the hell kind of video game system is ‘the Acoreyn’?”. Chris also talks about some of the cool new stuff in pinball, and we try some new potato chips.

We got the band back together for a 2016 Year In Review! We’ve got Jacob York (of wolf fighting fame), we’ve got Wizened Sage Ian “the hottest girl in the Annex” Chandler, and we’ve got Burger Bottom Jon Turley. Despite bragging about providing Jacob with his own microphone…he still sounds off-mic (not sure why!). So it’s a tradition now, we guess! We pore over some tasty data and talk about what happened in TADPOG Nation during the dumpster fire that was 2016. There’s a lot of Rogue One talk. A lot. There are barking dogs. And we read the best listener postcard we’ve yet to receive!

In the midst of a Christmas flurry, we set aside a little time to finish talking about Final Fantasy Tactics. Even though we started discussing this game last episode, there’s still a lot of game talk in this one. We’re talking about a PlayStation game, so of course Mad Catz comes up, as does Final Fantasy XII. Tyler tells a GameStop story and we receive a postcard from Oxford.

We open a package from TADPOG Santa Jack of Ziggy Moons and enjoy some Tapatio Doritos and Bacardi Watermelon Rum. Also, Zeros or Heroes, Nega Jesus, and Tellah weeps.

Welcome to the debut episode of Toots! We have an enormous backlog of voicemail and a dearth of free time, so we’re calling an audible (sports!) and going with an All Calls episode. There’s some good stuff in this episode. We open a package from Jack of Ziggy Moons, inside this package is an artifact which will leave ripples in the TADPOG Universe for years to come. We also talk about which Friends characters we are (again).

We play some listener voicemails and read text messages. We answer a magical Would You Rather. We talk about using the bathroom with cats. Sandwich Pope Phil goes through our backlog. Yes, we talk about dolphins again.

Play as the raptor! This episode should have been about Earthworm Jim, but we already talked about that game way back in 2014. In its place we decided to talk about a game that totally should have been on Digital Trends’ list of top 25 Sega Genesis games: Jurassic Park (Right? Right??). We talk about gum for a little bit and there’s lots of dumb stories, so we hope you enjoy.

Ever wonder what ShowBiz Pizza would have been like had the Rock-afire Explosion become self-aware with murderous intent? Probably a lot like Five Nights at Freddy’s, which just happens to be our topic of conversation for this episode. If that’s not spooky scary enough: We also take the TADPOG Horror Game Quiz which was put together by Ramon Castillo (of Super Bomberman 2 Fame). The Harrison Ford debate rages on!
