On October 24 1953, 15 year old Evelyn Hartley left her home to babysit the daughter of her father's work colleague, Viggo Rasmussen. She promised to call her parents around 8:30 pm. When her parents did not hear from her they began to call the Rasmussen home, but Evelyn did not answer. Her father immediately drove over to the home to check on his daughter. What he discovered would scar the community of La Crosse, Wisconsin forever.

In October of 1864 the Trans-Allegehney Lunatic Asylum accepted patients for the first time, the civil war had delayed instruction and the building was often used as Camp Tyler. The facility quickly developed a gruesome history of inhumane medical practices that were once considered "state of the art" and it is not hard to believe that claims of paranormal activity has been made at Trans-Allegehney since its inception.

Deep in the woods stands a metal footbridge, barely large enough to have one person walk across it safely. The area is said to be haunted by the ghosts of several children who perished at the hands of a man names Elias Friske in the 1800's. But is this legend true? Or simply a story to keep the local children away from the spot?

For this crime, Jack was sentenced to life in prison by an Austrian court. Deciding to make use of his time in prison and "better himself," Jack learned to read and write and quick realized he had a talent for the written word. His memoir, Purgatory, would become a best seller while he was in prison. The Austrian Elite would soon praise his work and petition for Jack's release in the name of prison reform. He was released on May 23, 1990 on parole, after only serving 15 years of his life sentence. For the next two years, Jack would go on a murderous rampage that would see him charged for crimes in three different countries and would make the Austrian authorities question if they had done the right thing by making Jack their poster boy for prison reform.

On July 2, 1918 the Semet-Solvay Process Co, a decommissioned limestone quarry that was converted to a munitions company during WWI, suffered a devastating fire that ignited over 1000 lbs of TNT. The blast was felt for miles around and could have leveled the city of Syracuse and half of Onondaga County had the wind not shifted. Today, the only structure that still stands is the 3 story stone crusher that was used when the area was a quarry and the area is supposedly haunted. One of these witnesses was arrested and charged despite the fact that no evidence could be found to connect him to her disappearance. Even though this man went to jail for her disappearance, her case still remains unsolved to this day.
